I'm left with the impression of a pattern of spiritual unfolding or development that is both universal and personal. With each description of "modes" or developments, I find a person who comes to mind who I now recognize seems to fit the stage/pattern. Of course, I see myself in much of this as well. I'm reminded of how frequently matters of faith come into my daily conversations with others and how the details of those exchanges penetrate my thinking and remain memorable. It seems they are opportunities/blessings to experience "thin places" within one's community. I continue to pray for the graces of generosity and patience; for the awareness that where I am is exactly where God desires me to be and that my loving God awaits our daily communion with delight.
